How I got here

I started out designing websites in Ghana, for an agency and for my own clients. From there I moved into product teams, first working alongside product owners, then at Esoko in the engineering team with engineers and product managers, reporting to the engineering manager. In both roles I mentored junior designers.

I also took on freelance work, including a contract with Universal Merchant Bank, where I designed a digital approval system to replace the bank’s paper forms, working with one developer.

I moved to the UK in 2023. I’m now Lead UX Designer at CEL Solicitors, a consumer law firm, as part of an eight-person marketing and digital team. I set the UX direction for the website and the tools clients use, from the claims journey on every service page to the portal clients use to send in their evidence.

How I work

People I’ve worked with tend to describe me as calm and methodical, and I think that’s fair. I like to understand a problem properly before I suggest anything. When CEL asked me to improve its service pages, I reviewed every one against the same checklist before changing any of them. The same four problems turned up everywhere, so we fixed them once, across the whole site.

I’d also rather settle a disagreement with evidence than opinion. Sometimes that’s an A/B test. Sometimes it’s a fortnight of logs from the case handlers dealing with the problem every day.
